I wanted to share a little about our famous espresso based drinks. As a barista part of my job is to ensure your experience at Sabor Espresso is absolutely phenomenal, not just average, but superior.
One part of that is explaining to you what is inside your espresso based drink. People are sometimes unsure about what is a particular drink and just never feel comfortable enough to ask the barista. Well at Sabor Espresso we are trying to change that atmosphere. I want you to ask any question from the simplest to the most complex out there.
So let’s look at a few drinks today:
1 – Americano. Well most people know that an Americano is espresso and water. The order of the 2 is often different between baristas and cafes. At Sabor Espresso we go with the hot water first and then pull the espresso over top of the hot water.
What difference does it make you ask? Well it’s simple. We add the hot water first, because even for a few seconds sitting in the cup, it cools down a little. This would not be ideal if you pull the shot and then put the boiling hot water over the espresso. This could burn your espresso. So, we put the hot water first… how much you ask, well each customer is different, but generally we put double the amount of espresso, so since all of Sabor Espresso’s espressos are 2oz, we start with 4oz of hot water.
This gives the perfect ratio for your Americano. If you want your Americano stronger, just ask for less water. Of course, if you like it a little weaker, yes we can start with more water 🙂
We hope you enjoy. See you soon at 11 Norfolk Street North Simcoe.
2 – Caramelo Latte. This is one of our signature drinks at Sabor Espresso. We start with 2 or 3 pumps of caramel Torani syrup. We then pull a double espresso directly into your cup.
Next step (like most drinks) is to texture the milk. Since this is a latte drink, there is more hot milk in the pitcher than there is foam. We pour the milk into the cup and add a little latte art.
Then we hide the latte art (unfortunately) with some whipped cream and then finish up with our cajeta (caramel) sauce on top.
We serve this drink in our 16oz cups so you get a great portion to enjoy.
See you soon at Sabor Espresso for any of these drinks and many more.
Stay tuned for more drink details in a future blog post.
